The Whole Truth -- New Series with Rob Morrow & Maura Tierney -- Debuts 9/22/10
By djariya at 2010-09-22
Synopsis for Pilot:
Spoiler:
Starring:
Rob Morrow (Numb3rs)
Maura Tierney (ER)
Eamonn Walker (OZ)
Anthony Ruivivar (Third Watch)
Producer is Jerry Bruckheimer
The Pilot was written by Tom Donaghy (Without a Trace) and he is the creator of the show
Directed by Alex Graves (Fringe)
This is Maura Tierney's 1st acting role since her breast cancer treatment. Her part was originally played by Joely Richardson, but she dropped out after shooting the original Pilot.
The last thing I need is another damn lawyer show, but I like Tierney, so this deserves at least a look.

Wasn't bad, but I don't see myself watching it often, if at all. Not worth the time investment. Plus I can't watch Rob Morrow without expecting Don Eppes.

I'm also someone that doesn't like the lawyer or crime shows, but will give anything Maura is in a chance.
It certainly wasn't bad. I'll be back to keep giving it some time for a while.
With Rob Morrow and Maura with the really short hair it made me think of Joel and Maggie.

Well, I didn't think much of the show, and apparently neither did most Neilsen families.
The pilot finished a distant third in the ratings at 10PM, with 4.91 million viewers and 1.6 in 18-49. Eastwick had nearly double those numbers a year ago, and we saw how long ABC stuck with that one...
I'd say this show is on life support, and if not for Lone Star I'd say it's the leading candidate for first cancellation of the fall.
Honestly, I don't know why all 3 networks scheduled legal shows in the same time slot, but somebody was bound to get slaughtered. CBS has a solid lead in, NBC has a solid brand, and ABC has a night of comedy leading into a pretty humorless procedural.
I can see ABC sending this to Friday night and putting that Dana Delaney medical show on in this spot, I mean they gotta do something...

here would be TheKing and I saying that line if we were on the show The Whole Truth..
each of us in a law office.. Jump cutting back and forth in rapid nature.
TheKing : I can see ABC sending this to Friday night
me : I can't see ABC sending this to Friday night
TheKing: putting that Dana Delaney Medical show in this spot
me : they can't put that Dana Delaney Medical show in this spot
TheKing: I mean they gotta do something
me : they don't have to do anything..
that pretty much was the show.. at one point I think they were jumping back and forth for just a few world like "keep the call in/keep the call out".. then in the closing arguments they treated everyone watching like they were morons and flashed back to what was JUST said in court a few min ago..
I did like the hook of showing the truth at the end but another legal show did that too and soooo much better a few years ago.. I think show is the first one I 100% write off and that's rare being clearly I'll watch almost anything..

That pretty much nails it! And that is exactly how they promoted the show. It's not original, it has been done several times in the past, and it's about as bland as it gets.

So now that I think about it, didn't The 2006 Fox show "Justice" with Victor Garber do this? At the end of the episode after they announced the verdict, they would show you what really happened. Interestingly, both shows are EP'd by Bruckheimer, and both star Eamonn Walker! Nothing like repackaging a show a few years later and selling it to a different network. I think in the end, Justice will have lasted longer though lol

I couldn't remember the title of the show but I was thinking the exact same thing when I was watching it going "This is like the court show with Garber, what was the name?"
And holy sh*t you're right Walker was in both!

I actually didn't hate this as much as I thought I would. The plot at least held my attention and I was surprised how quickly the hour passed (unlike some other pilots I have watched this fall.) It's nothing ground-breaking and I do not need another legal show, but I think I will at least watch another episode or two.

She was originally supposed to be played by Joely Richardson from Nip/Tuck, but Joely dropped out after the Pilot was shot, so they had to re-shoot all Joely's scenes with Maura in them.

I watched the second episode and I'm out. The reveals at the end are just silly, especially episode 2.
Spoiler:
And I know Maura Tierney is recovering from cancer, but I can't help but notice how tired she looks. I spend the entire episode wondering if the actress is ok, and maybe should not be working yet.

Just watching the first one, and enjoy it so far, but isn't this the same premise as Justice, which Eamonn Walker also starred in?

I'm out too. Watched the first and much of the second show. Not enjoyable at all. Why not watch the first ten minutes & the last 10 seconds. Doubt this one will last.

So in the first episode, how do we know that the father did it? I know it was supposed to be of the crucifix, but why couldn't it have been from the daughter or son? Did I miss something?

Still enjoying this and law shows are not my thing. I never saw an episode of any Law and Order in any of its forms.
But just on Morrow and Tierney's performances and decent enough cases, I find it enjoyable and will watch until it gets cancelled.

Tonight's episode is being replaced by a special on the Chilean miners. This and Raising Hope are the only new shows I still watch, and it doesn't look good for this show.

Just an FYI for those still watching, which is not many in this forum.
http://twitter.com/kristieannereed
Kristieanne Reed, one of Jerry Bruckheimer's Producers, tweeted on Monday that the show will end after episode 13 (the original order) They are still filming until mid-December and ABC supposedly will air all the produced episodes.
