A Dive into Unusual Engagement Rings
Unveiling the Unconventional
From unusual diamond cuts to innovative settings, the realm of engagement rings is evolving, offering designs that are anything but ordinary. At Bespoke Diamonds, we lead the trend in distinctive and custom designs, boasting the ability to craft any ring imaginable in our Dublin-based workshop.
Little Features for Big Impact
Below are some ideas that can have a big impact on typical solitaire and three stone designs.
Under the diamond is a small hidden halo of round cut diamonds which increases the sparkle! This feature can be added to any solitaire ring and allows a subtle customization with a big impact.
Using emeralds, baguettes, pears or trillions at the side of a centre stone greatly enhances the appearance and sparkles from all angles.
Using the most popular diamond shape, Round Brilliant, with a ring band inspired by the texture of the bark of Irish oak trees, results in a truly unique engagement ring.
The addition of multiple small diamonds creates almost random sparkle and enhances the appearance of the centre Oval cut.
Adding a row of gemstones (perhaps you or your partner’s birthstones) on the bridge is a unique detail that takes nothing away from the main focus.
How about adding a sapphire to the head of the ring, under the main diamond? Consider using this as your “something blue” (sapphire) or the birthstone of someone special.
What do the Experts Think?
Ring Consultants on Unusual Engagement Ring Designs
In the past ten years we have created over 10,000 designs, aside from our standard collection of solitaire, three-stone and halo rings. Our ring design consultants have just about seen it all!
We asked them for their thoughts on what unusual or different designs they see people looking at and what customizations they tend to choose.
Geometric shapes in engagement rings are more than just a trend; they’re a reflection of both modern aesthetics and vintage charm. The clean lines and defined edges of cuts like Radiant and Emerald resonate with today’s couples seeking a blend of contemporary design and timeless elegance. Moreover, these shapes not only stand out but also symbolize stability and balance in a relationship. At Bespoke Diamonds, we’ve seen a growing appreciation for these distinctive cuts, and it’s clear they’re making a statement in the world of love and commitment.

In my time at Bespoke Diamonds, I’ve seen a beautiful shift towards the incorporation of gemstones in engagement rings. Whether it’s the deep personal significance of a birthstone, the vibrant aesthetic that a splash of colour brings, or the timeless symbolism each gemstone carries, couples today are seeking that unique touch. Gemstones offer both versatility in design and a nod to vintage charm, making each ring a true reflection of the couple’s journey and taste. It’s not just about following a trend; it’s about crafting a story that resonates for a lifetime.

Rings without a centre diamond!?!
A Splash of Gemstone Colour
For those drawn to popular gemstones, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds remain timeless choices. Venturing into the less well-known, gems like tanzanite, morganite, and tourmaline offer a distinctive charm. And for those with an eye for the truly unique, options like the mesmerizing moss agate or the iridescent moonstone stand out make a stunning gemstone ring.

The Unmistakably Mysterious Moss Agate
Moss Agate Engagement Rings
Somewhat of a newcomer to the engagement ring scene, this unique and beautiful stone is a standout that definitely turns heads.
Moss Agate: Nature’s Artistry
Moss Agate stands out in the gemstone world with its organic, earthy appeal. Unlike its name suggests, it doesn’t contain organic matter, but rather, its unique patterns resemble moss or ferns, encapsulated in clear or milky quartz. These intricate inclusions, often in shades of green and brown, paint a picture reminiscent of a forest landscape or underwater scenes.
Beyond its visual allure, Moss Agate is often associated with nature, abundance, and new beginnings. Its translucent quality, combined with the delicate dendritic patterns, makes each stone a one-of-a-kind piece, capturing the essence of nature’s artistry. For those seeking a gemstone that resonates with the natural world and offers a serene, grounding presence, Moss Agate is a captivating choice.
Make any ring your own
A Gemstone in Any Ring!
At Bespoke Diamonds, we tailor every engagement ring to meet your unique specifications. While diamonds have traditionally been the centerpiece (and we offer natural or lab grown options for every diamond ring), there’s an undeniable allure to vibrant gemstones.

Customize a Classic Design
In this image, you can see the classic design of Princess Diana’s engagement ring, now worn by Kate Middleton. The standout design of the centre oval cut blue sapphire surrounded by a band of diamonds was a trendsetter in its time and is still popular today!
We offer this ring with any gemstone and can adapt the size of the gemstone to your taste and budget. The other gemstones in the image are (from top right) Green Emerald, Aquamarine, Ruby, Pink Sapphire, and Green Sapphire.

Brand Names vs Custom Designed Engagement Rings
While many brands command high prices for unique designs, we offer a distinct advantage. Harnessing the synergy of in-house designers, goldsmiths, and consultants, we craft bespoke pieces that encapsulate individuality without the premium price.
The Little Features added to rings shown above will add very little to the cost of your ring but we see some brands charge literally thousands extra for rings with these little additions. The reality is that many brands have more marketing staff than designers or goldsmiths!
Bespoke Diamonds was Founded to Create Unique Rings
I felt there was an opportunity to create something great – to create quality and value in a new and innovative way.
When I first ventured into the world of jewellery, I quickly recognized a significant gap in the market. Many hopeful romantics, ready to take that next big step, were met with limited choices when it came to engagement rings. The options were either too generic or extravagantly priced, leaving little room for personalization without breaking the bank.
This realization became the driving force behind the inception of Bespoke Diamonds. I envisioned a place where every individual could find a ring that resonated with their unique love story, without compromising on quality or affordability. A place where the word ‘bespoke’ wasn’t just a name, but a promise to deliver tailor-made, exquisite rings that captured the essence of each couple’s journey.
Creating unique and affordable rings wasn’t just a business goal; it was a personal mission. I wanted to ensure that every proposal, every ‘yes’, and every moment thereafter was accompanied by a ring that was as special as the love it symbolized.
Today, I’m proud to say that Bespoke Diamonds stands as a testament to that vision. Offering customisation of every ring, choices in natural or lab grown diamonds and gemstones, and doing all of this in-house to allow for synergy and clear communication from the initial consultant, through to the designer, goldsmith and even the social media and website team.
We’re not just selling rings; we’re crafting memories, one unique design at a time.
